Oceania Academy Movement, Nutrition and Sleep Special Interest Group

This group brings together researchers, clinicians, clinician-researchers, people with lived experience of cerebral palsy and other childhood-onset disabilities with a personal or professional interest in advancing evidence-based approaches to movement, nutrition, and sleep.

Through knowledge exchange, research collaboration, service development, and advocacy, we aim to build capacity across healthcare systems and contribute to new, integrated approaches to health-promoting behaviours for people with childhood-onset disabilities. Our goal is that people with childhood-onset disabilities and their families can access equitable, and accessible support for physical activity, healthy eating, and good sleep across the lifespan.

We meet regularly to discuss topics of interest and share knowledge.

The objectives of the Movement, Nutrition and Sleep Special Interest Group are to:

  • Provide an avenue for strengthening collaborative networks of clinicians, researchers, and lived-experience partners with an interest in movement behaviours, sleep, and nutrition
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange through webinars, symposia, discussions, and distribution of relevant resources and professional development opportunities
  • Promote and advocate for evidence-based, integrated 24-hour approaches to health behaviour support within developmental medicine, rehabilitation, and health services
  • Collaborate with other Oceania Academy SIGs on co-badged events and joint activities

Steering Committee Members: Dr Tara FitzGerald, Dr Sarah Reedman, A/Prof Sian Williams, Dr Gaela Kilgour, A/Prof Jasneek Chawla, Dr Claire Willis, Dr Stina Oftedal.
