Conference Awards

Each conference year, the Academy recognises scientific excellence and professional and community contributions with the following awards:

In addition to conference awards, a presentation of our Biennial Academy Awards will be also held at our 2026 conference. Nominations for these Academy Awards are now open. Please click here for further information. Nominations close on the 27th of October 2025.


Best Paper and Best Poster

Who: The recipients of these awards will be the first author of the paper and the poster that receive the highest score for their abstract and paper or poster presentation.

How: Abstracts will be scored by the scientific committee of the Oceania Academy. The authors of the highest scoring abstracts will then be scored on their presentation or poster by members of the Scientific and Awards Committees. See scoring matrix.

When: The winners of best paper and best poster are announced at the Conference closing ceremony.


Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation: Best Prevention or Cure Paper

Who: The recipient of this award will be the first author of the prevention/cure paper that received the highest score for their abstract and presentation.

How: The scientific committee will score each abstract. The highest scoring abstracts will then be scored on their presentation by members of the Scientific and Awards Committees. See scoring matrix.

When: Winners are announced at the Conference closing ceremony.


Promising Career Award

Who: The recipient of this award will be an Academy member from Australasia presenting at the Conference who is currently a student or within four years of completion of training (clinical or research training).

How: Presenters can self-select that they are eligible for the award during registration. The scientific committee will score each abstract. The highest scoring eligible abstracts will then be scored on their presentation by members of the Awards Committee. See scoring matrix.

When: The winner will be announced at the Conference closing ceremony.
