Oceania Academy Lifespan Special Interest Group
Oceania Academy Lifespan Care Special Interest Group
This group brings together researchers, clinicians, people with lived experience of childhood-onset disabilities, and families from across Australia and New Zealand with a personal or professional interest in advancing lifespan approaches to care.
Through knowledge exchange, peer-support, skill development, and advocacy, we aim to build capacity across healthcare systems and contribute to innovative models of lifespan care. Our goal is that people with childhood-onset disabilities can access the specialist, coordinated, and empowering care they need to thrive in adulthood, and live the lives they choose.
We meet every two months to discuss topics of interest, research, conferences, and share knowledge.
The objectives of the Lifespan Care Special Interest Group are to:
- Provide an avenue for strengthening and growing networks of lifespan-care focused clinicians, researchers, and lived experience partners
- Provide a space for adults with lived experience, and representative organisations, to share their voice and provide leadership on priorities for advocacy
- Facilitate knowledge exchange through regular webinars, discussions, and distribution of relevant resources and professional development opportunities
- Promote and advocate for lifespan-focused care practices and initiatives to the Oceania Academy, community, health services, and other organisations as appropriate
